Kuranda Dog Beds.

What our customers say:
"I just thought I would write and thank you for making your wonderful Kuranda bed! It was so easy to put together, it took me no time at all, and before I had even tied the lambs wool bed pad in place, Harrison had climbed on and made himself comfortable! He is sleeping as I write this. I heard about the 'Kuranda Experience' from the 'The Straight Poop', and I've been looking forward to being able to give Harrison a warm, comfortable and supportive bed. He is extremely happy with the real thing! Thank you again, Kuranda. Bye for now, Emma Evans"

A Word From Frank:

Frank Fleischer
I gotta admit, I really have fun putting this publication together. How else, for example, would I run across the wonderful story about the hippo and the tortoise? And when would I ever take the time to look for Marmaduke's latest antics?

By the way, Marmaduke is truly my favorite of all the dog comics we rotate through The Straight Poop... I guess it's because his essential character of being so human is just like my Katie (and I guess like your best friend as well).

I hope you'll take my advice and give Jack London a read. White Fang really touched me deeply, and I suspect it will you as well. Forget about TV for an evening and rediscover what it's like to curl up with a good book... maybe, since it's still winter, in front of the fireplace?

Gotta go... Katie hasn't had her evening walk yet (and, of course, neither have I). I don't know which of us needs it more!

See you next time. Wishing you a warm puppy 'til then.
Frank

Featured Website: For Dog Lovers Everywhere

It's probably safe to assume, since you're reading this, that you're a dog lover. Well I guess there are different levels of dog lover, and you're about to meet someone at the very top level. "For Dog Lovers Everywhere" is obviously a labor of love, and just about as entertaining and useful as a dog web site can be.

The authors talks about their 14 dogs (most were rescued), tips on dog care, a dog health FAQ with a symptoms chart and home remedies, lots of dog fun and facts, some true dog stories, "Help Dogs" graphics, some message boards for you to participate, and lots more. ... [continue]

The Puppy Corner: Buying And Caring For A New Puppy

Altogether too often the process of getting a new pup is a sort of spur-of-the-moment, spontaneous affair, with little or no forethought or planning. And this, my friends, can change what should be a wonderful experience and beginning of a beautiful relationship into a disaster in the making.

Dog Health & Nutrition: General Nutritional Guidelines

My daddy taught me never to discuss religion or politics with strangers. He should have added another taboo... what to feed your dog. So many theories, so many experts, so many solutions. Dr. Lucy Pinkston, DVM of vet@dog is "right on" when she writes,

"Nutition is an area where there are innumerable opinions and no single opinion is correct. Much research has been performed on the subject and, although some is indeed conflicting, some basic principles and guidelines have emerged. For example, horses have different requirements than people and people have different requirements than dogs... [continue]

Dog Activities and Training: Obedience Training Your Dog

Why train your dog to be obedient? In response, I ask, "Why not?" There must be a hundred good reasons to do it for every reason not to (and those are mostly bad ones, like laziness, procrastination, all that stuff Mom used to nag you about when you were teenager).

Dog Owner's Guide gives all the reasons why and then tells us how. What more could you ask? Your mom would be proud of you.

Featured Dog Humor: Comic Strip

  Marmaduke   http://umweb2.unitedmedia.com/comics/marmaduke/
Featured Book: Jack London: Novels and Stories, including Call of the Wild and White Fang

I vaguely remember reading Call of the Wild and White Fang as a boy and, frankly, didn't get it then. They seemed no more significant to me at the time than a Dick Tracy or Buck Rogers comic book. But recently I picked up an old dog-earred copy of White Fang and I was enthralled and transported.

Simply stated, Jack London did more for human understanding of the canine existence and spirit than anyone else I can think of. Do yourself a BIG favor, get these books out of the library or buy them here in one edition from Amazon.com, and spend a few hours reading (or re-reading) them. You'll thank me.

Dogs in the News: Tortoise Adopts Hippo

An amazing story comes to us as an aftermath of the terrible tsunami disaster.

NAIROBI (AFP) - A baby-hippopotamus that survived the tsunami waves on the Kenyan coast has formed a strong bond with a giant male century-old tortoise, in an animal facility in the port city of Mombasa, officials said.

The hippopotamus, nicknamed Owen and weighing about 300 kilograms (650 pounds), was swept down Sabaki River into the Indian Ocean, then forced back to shore when tsumani waves struck the Kenyan coast on December 26, before wildlife rangers rescued him... [continue]
